We won the Lottery!

The Army Lottery that is :)
I was reminded of that this morning while working on the newsletter for the Mountain Post Spouses Club (MPSC).  The MPSC is partially why this blog has been neglected for so long.

This past Saturday we put on our largest fundraiser of the year...Viva Las Carson!  We brought Vegas to Ft. Carson, and it was a blast.  It was also a lot of work, and I have no pictures of my own to show for it, so pictures will have to wait until our Pro pics come back.  The past 2 months have been dance practice 2-3 times a week, meetings, crafting, and a lot of fun with friends.  That being said, I'm glad its over, and I think I'm still trying to catch up on sleep!

Back to why we won the lotto by moving here...
I knew I wanted to get involved with whatever I could when we moved here, but I never dreamed I would be this busy...but I love it!  It all started with the USO.  A few weeks after we got here, I signed up to be a volunteer with the USO.  That quickly turned into being a team leader, and I now volunteer there 3 days a week on the lunch shift.  Most recently, I was 1 of 2 volunteers asked to be part of a new USO Ambassador program.  This involves speaking to crowds of various sizes about all the great things the USO does for our soldiers.  Minus the public speaking part, I am really excited, and proud to have been chosen.
Super Bowl Sunday at the USO!

Shortly after starting at the USO, I went to my first Unit Coffee and met some awesome ladies who turned me in the direction of the MPSC, since they were already members.  I volunteered at the Holiday Bazaar (craft fair) that the MPSC puts on and met more of the ladies there, and turned in my application for membership.  That turned into me applying and getting accepted as the Historian, and more recently taking over the monthly newsletter, and being added to the 2nd VP committee.  In Viva Las Carson, I was part of the Entertainment Committee as well as heading up the Vault (a giant raffle).  So needless to say, being part of the MPSC has been awesome :)
The Holiday Bazaar (where I met that fiesty woman next to Sean who likes to sign me up for things :P XO Misty!)

Being involved with the 4th CAB (Sean's unit)  has surprisingly come last.  I volunteered at the Holiday party and went to the 2 coffees that were held, but since it is a new unit, there hasn't been much going on.  Of course when a volunteer roundup was finally held, I was SICK.  I emailed the new FRG leader the next day asking how I could help.  My name had been dropped to her about being the Treasurer, so I am now an FRG Treasurer.  Since we are brand new and have no money, my job is pretty easy :P

That's it...for now :)  Never once have I felt guilty about not having a paid job, because everything that I do here is SO much more rewarding.  On top of being a part of all the amazing organizations, Colorado is such a beautiful state, and I can't wait for it to warm up a little so we can explore it more!
This view never gets old :)

Coming up in April/May...Some friends and I are going to participate in the Dirty Girl Mud Run!!  This is basically a 5k obstacle course that involves mud, LOL. Got to start training for it!  Then at the end of April, Sean and I are headed to FL for the first time since July 2011!!  My sister is graduating FSU :)  Two days after we get back from FL, my friend Rhonda from NC is coming to visit!

It's been a crazy 5 months, it's not slowing down, and I hope it doesn't anytime soon :)
